Spiritual and cultural care
The service provides a space for individuals and groups to explore their spiritual and cultural needs.
The team is made up of:
- Part time chaplains
- Catholic Parishes
- Honorary and Voluntary Chaplains
- Bank Chaplains
- Local acute hospital chaplaincy teams
The ethos and philosophy of the Spiritual and Cultural Service is:
- Holistic care includes care for the physical, physiological and spiritual dimensions of the person. All four contribute to the health and well being of individuals or a community.
- We all share a common humanity that needs to be acknowledged and respected.
- Out of that common humanity comes individual needs due to particular beliefs and culture. These may change or not fit into assumptions.
- The service provides a space for individuals and groups to explore their spiritual and cultural needs.
- Being free of direct responsibility for treatment, the basis of our work is the establishment of voluntary, interpersonal relationships.
- We work in line with the trust's Equality and Diversity Strategy and the Trust-wide approach to delivering a person-centred service.
- That is all staff, service users and visitors will feel welcomed and respected and in particular, have their spiritual and cultural care needs acknowledged.
- The service will implement an evidence-based approach while continually exploring new ways of working.
