The service provides needs-led community care assessments and care plans to support clients who are problematic users of drugs/alcohol. These take account of practical issues such as housing, benefits, child-care needs and harm reduction.
The service runs a five day per week alcohol day programme, a weekly group to prepare clients for detox and a weekly group in Oxleas House. It also provides one-to-one counselling, acupuncture, acupressure, meditation, a gym session and a family consultation service.
Structured sessions are provided using motivational interviewing, motivational exercises and therapeutic support using a range of psychosocial interventions. If required, clients are referred to inpatient detox and residential rehabilitation units.
When clients return to the community they receive support to access housing, aftercare programmes, education, training and voluntary work as appropriate.
