Musculoskeletal (MSK) Integrated Clinical Assessment and Treatment (ICAT) service Greenwich

Musculoskeletal (MSK) is an overall term for conditions affecting your muscles, joints and sometimes nerves. The MSK Clinical Assessment and Treatment (ICAT) service, also known as the MSK triage service, is an alternative to hospital services for musculoskeletal assessments. The aim is to assess and direct you to the right place, first time, with all the necessary tests completed prior to seeing a clinician.

Benefits of the MSK ICAT service

  • Faster access to assessment, tests and treatment
  • Treatment by the correct specialist
  • Shorter waiting times for hospital treatment if required
  • Specialist diagnostic and treatment techniques including sonography, extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), acupuncture and pain management.

How do I access the service?
If you are experiencing joint or muscular pains, please visit your GP. If they feel that you would benefit from a specialist assessment, they will complete a referral on your behalf.
